Hush, Little Baby

I won a scripture lullaby CD at MOPS (yay for MOPS!) yesterday.  That sparked a conversation with E that left me questioning my mothering skills...

E:  Do you know the words to "Hush, Little Baby"?

Me:  No, not really.

E:  Did you sing that to me when I was a baby?

Me:  Yep.

E:  Did you know the words then?

Me:  No, I just made up my own words because you were a baby, and you didn't know what I was saying anyway.

E:  What were they?

Me: Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring won't shine,
Mama's giving up and drinking wine.

Hey, at least one line of the song is truthful.

I'm certain you sang that when you had J. And add a few other things to that wine list :)

I'd still like to hear the lyrics to my dad's bedtime song "Go to sleep little creep"
