Rwanda

We’ve had the great blessing of following a couple of adoption journeys from beginning to end. Until witnessing this firsthand, I had no idea what the process entailed. I still don’t know all of the details, but as I understand it, the first part of the adoption process goes a little something like this: paperwork, waiting, praying, paperwork, waiting, praying, paperwork, waiting, praying and more paperwork and more waiting and more praying. After months or years, then the ball really gets rolling with the (sometimes international) travel, the long-awaited meeting day, probably more paperwork, and eventually the newly united family settles in back home to begin living life together. And that’s when the adoption journey truly gets started.

There are plenty of aspects about children being placed with a loving forever family that leave me in awe, but if I had to pick the single most amazing thing about adoption as I’ve seen it, it would be this: Upon finding out how physically, emotionally, financially, and mentally straining the process is, the couples who were called to adopt follow through with it anyway. Pure l.o.v.e. Absolutely admirable!

Meet one such courageous family. The dear H family is in the “paperwork, waiting, praying” stage of adopting a child from Rwanda. I know M is a tough one (she survived Black Friday shopping with us last year…that’s tough!) but any prayers are surely welcomed. Follow along with the H's here. If you are so inclined, you can even support their cause by ordering a shirt that they personally designed.

(Great design!  For a closer look at the graphic/available colors or to order, check it out on their blog.)

I was shocked and a little heavy hearted by the huge need for adoption that was revealed by my brief internet research. Don’t just take my word for it, however. Take a moment to Google “worldwide orphan statistics” and you’ll find out what a worthy cause this is.

A & M & L & A – Admirable you are! May God bless you with abundant patience, peace, courage, strength, and joy. AMEN!

Thank you for sharing their story. The H's are completely amazing as are all of those who adopt.
