An Added Bonus

We've had a week filled with fun projects (and plenty of clean up).

And the new rainbow towel...
 it's just an added bonus.

This Evening's Project

As long as we live in this house, there will never again be a day when we will not find red glitter.

Worth it?

I think so.

Flag Football

When it comes to five and six-year-olds playing flag football, one might feel compelled to dive right in and talk offense, defense, motion, the Hail Mary, positions, and turnovers.  It doesn’t take long to figure out that perhaps the most basic lessons are lost in all of this football goodness…
like…

stop messing with your mouth piece!
Despite three games and multiple practices with hands in mouths, the Colts have made some impressive improvements in just a few short weeks.  The assistant coach has made great progress with the defense,

and J has gone from getting the ball and standing there to this long run tonight.
(Please excuse the Blair Witch Project quality of filming…an almost three-year-old monkey using her mother as a jungle gym doesn’t lend itself to stellar videography.)

Way to go, boys!  Your cheerleaders are proud of you!

A Message from E IV

Hi!
It's me, the boyfriend.
It's been awhile since I've made an appearance here,
so I thought an update is in order.
There have been many changes since July.
I have lots of teeth.
I can sit up all by myself.
I can get to where ever I want to go by (army) crawling
and even stand up when I get there.
A couple of things haven't changed though.
I still am cute as ever.
And I still am pretty little because of the hole in my heart.
Don't be mistaken though...little doesn't mean that I'm not tough.
So tough that I'm not even scared about having surgery this week.
Well...ok...maybe a little scared,
but I'm choosing to put on a happy face.
You don't need to be worried either.  God's got this under control,
so you can put on a happy face, too.
 I'll show you how...
Oh, you can do better than that...
That's more like it.
Well, it's way past my bedtime, and I need to rest up for my big week.
Have a great sleep and say a couple of prayers for me if you remember.  My mommy and daddy and everyone else that loves me could use a few as well.
If you want to check in on me, just take a peek here
And, I'm sure you'll be seeing me again soon here too because that crazy lady who calls me her boyfriend just can't get enough of me.
Love,
E IV

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Uneasy

I've never cared much about the Mac vs. PC debate...until now.  With a computer purchase in my near future, I've been consumed (that's not an exaggeration) with researching what's best.  I've googled everything imaginable, asked my Facebook friends, and imposed upon sought out the opinions of practically anyone that I have encountered.

Although the scale is starting to tip in one direction for me, the jury is still in deliberation at this point.

Big purchases make me very uneasy.  I like to be well informed, but I am also extremely indecisive.  Bad combo because the more I read, the more wishy-washy it becomes for me.  Bad for my husband too because he has to hear me regurgitate over and over (and over and over) the case for both sides.  Perhaps this is just payback for all of the fantasy football talk I have to endure.

Anyway, I don't want to start a brand name debate here...too boring and not nearly as exciting as writing about my kids.  However, I would like to pass along a link that one of my expert resources, G, shared with me.  While almost everyone out there immediately jumps to the Mac as the only choice, this is one of the most compelling (and downright hilarious) arguments against an Apple purchase that I've come across.

Fact:

Male and female communication styles are very different.

We took the divide-and-conquer approach to hygiene tonight,so E was in the bathtub while J was in the other bathroom taking a shower.  J shut his fingers in the shower door, an event that was followed by loud screaming.  After he calmed down, he went on his way to don pajamas.  E, having no idea what the commotion was about, initiated the following conversation by shouting out from the bathtub...

E:  J, why were you screaming?

J:  Don't worry about it.

E:  Why were you crying?

J:  I don't want to talk about it.

E:  J, let's talk about this.

J:  No!  I don't want to talk.

E:  J, did you get hurt?

J:  I don't want to talk about it!

E:  Yes, let's just talk!

J:  NO!

E:  Tell me what happened!

J:  Mom!  E won't stop bothering me.

I'm sure his dad feels the same way about me some days.

Mouse...

It's what's for dinner.

Believe me, this was not my first choice of food for our new slithery friends,

friends as in two friends, but Fred and Steve are picky eaters.
The cause of death for the crickets that were first offered was time and starvation,

not traumatic injury or suffocation on account of our reptilian companions, so we had to pull the big guns out of the freezer.
Because even our pinkies were too big for our young snakes, J learned a new word.  However, we all know that learning goes so much further when an application component is included, and dissection is no exception.

Guess I'll be adding this to my things-I-never-thought-I'd-do list.

Husker Power

It's that time of year. You know, the one when football energy is buzzing all around.

We're hoping the newest Big Ten team is able to execute the game plan a little better than we did with our pregame photo session.

GO BIG RED!
