While living in her imaginary world...
E: This is my baby.
Me: Oh, she's beautiful.
E: Our praying mantis died, so we got a baby instead.

Poor Baby
On Friday morning, E's nose was dripping like a faucet. The sneezing and fever followed shortly after, so after a long night we canceled our Saturday evening plans and enjoyed a nice, quiet day at home. Sunday she was A-okay, so we ventured off to church.
She greeted me in the bathroom this morning looking a little rough. When I asked her how she was feeling, E responded, "Fine." Then she coughed. And coughed. And coughed.
The 100-pack-year smoker's cough that settled in overnight was enough to earn the girlie and her mama a day at home.
I'm a push over when it comes to sick kids, so she's enjoying way too many of her favorite shows with her Cheerios, favorite purple blanket, tissues, and sports drink.
True to form, E has been begging for food all day.
E: Mom, please get me some cookies with frosting.
Me: We don't have any.
E: How about some cake with frosting?
Me: We don't have any.
E: Well, I want frosting. It's not very healthy, but I want it anyway.
If the frosting wouldn't require a cold trip to the store with a hacking child, frosting would have been on her lunch plate. She had to settle for chicken noodle soup and oranges instead. Poor baby!

Yes and Yes
Me: I need new bras. Mine don't fit anymore.
Steve: Why do you think that is?
Me: Because they're old and stretched out.
Steve: Your boobs or the bras?

Only Cute if You are Three
Mealtimes tend to be more chaotic than other times of the day around here. By the end of the day, I usually can't remember all of the dinner essentials such as napkins, utensils, food, drinks, ketchup, ranch, and kids. As a result, I make several trips back and forth from the table to the rest of the kitchen. Despite the chaos, some moments are worth taking the time to capture.
Tonight, we had one of those moments.
Now, before you go adding this to your "Photography Ideas" Pinterest board, please remember this is only cute for a three-year-old subject.

Organizing
J's teacher asked his class if anyone knew what "organizing" meant.
J: I know! It's when you get everything out, make a huge, giant mess, and then put stuff in totes.

Bragging
Me: I have two good kids. You know it?
J: Yep, and one of them has very, very fantastic manners.

Soul Surfers
J and E love the movie Soul Surfer.
It was Daddy's idea to bring a surf board into the living room, but they came up with the costumes and act all on their own.
I have a feeling our sleds will be staying inside for awhile.

Our Night
Pizza.
Baths.
Cheering.
E went to bed.
Two hours later she fell asleep.
J watched the game.
J cried.
A lot.
Big tears.
LSU lost.
Everyone finally sleeps.
I blog.
At least there was pizza.

All Good Things...
must come to an end.
It's back to alarm clocks and routine tomorrow morning because J's first Christmas break is over.
We (Yes, I had Christmas break this year too!) had such a wonderful time enjoying our long break over the holidays. Steve did get some much deserved time off as well, but not quite as long as the rest of us.
Somebody's got to work around here, so we can take in the zoo on record-breaking, warm January days, you know. Thanks, dear! We appreciate you!
I had high hopes of getting our house organized and projects finished, but in the end not too many of those planned tasks were accomplished. However, there were lots of laughs and tons of fun. I'd make that trade any day.
I enjoyed my extra time with the kids so much so that I'm really, really looking forward to summer vacation. But until then, I guess it's back to reality for me...if you can consider working outside the home two days a week reality.
(Thanks again, dear!)

Cake
You can have your cake,
and eat it too.
(And just in case you're wondering, this little guy is awesome! He's gaining, growing, and getting into everything. He even still likes me...when his mom and dad aren't around.)

Almost Forgot...
to wish all of you a happy 2012. I guess I've been too busy enjoying my nineteen-day break from work.
Have a great year!
Cheers!
