School has been out for nearly a week. We haven't stopped celebrating yet, and we likely won't until about August.
We celebrate the smallest of things around here, so it's no surprise that we didn't hold back on J's final day of kindergarten.
His usual lunch box contents are highly predictable: turkey and cheese or PB&J sandwich; grapes or strawberries; carrots or cucumbers; milk.
The last day of school called for a surprise: salami and cheese sandwich, grapes, Pringles, pudding, Gatorade & a love note from Dad and Mom.
I told E about J's special lunch. Of course, she wanted the same thing for her lunch. And she did, minus the sandwich and grapes.
J loved his teachers and librarian this year, so (with the helpful suggestions of the state's best 4th grade teacher) we gave them a well deserved summer bonus...

J wasn't overly excited about the mandatory last day of school pictures...
but he was thrilled with the surprise after-school snack...
We l.o.v.e. cookies!
We kept on celebrating late into the night with pizza for dinner followed by a movie, Night at the Museum, and more cookie.
J, E, and I (Steve opted for the comfy bed since he had to work the next day) had a slumber party in the living room.
The next day we ate cookie for breakfast and were all still in our pajamas at lunch time. We had a celebratory meal out with Daddy over the weekend, too.
Welcome to summer!
