Vacation

It's been nearly a month since we broke free

from the grips of the daily grind

and headed to Colorado for a little getaway.

Huh?

Can you believe it's taken me that long to sift through pictures and get them posted?

Me neither.

Our first adventure was a gondola ride to the top of a mountain.

Because every brook and stream was raging from a significant amount of melting snow,

we were pleasantly surprised with an open snow activity at the summit, and we gladly hopped on board.

Nope, it wasn't skiing despite the nearly covered slopes at the top.

Well, not all of us were able to ride.

The too-short one of the group entertained herself quite nicely by throwing snowballs.

The rest of had a blast speeding down the mountainside.

J told me he felt like a rabbit cooking in a pot.

This tubing thing just wasn't fun and games though.  The high altitude trip back to the conveyor built was quite a workout.

We didn't want sweet E to feel slighted, so we headed to the bounce house for more fun.

Unfortunately, her fun was cut short by a really minor injury and a trip to the first aid tent to get fixed up.

That didn't keep her from smiling though.

We ended our day with a steep drive to get an even better view of God's beautiful work.

And He does do beautiful work.

Today

Today…

Steve worked.

E whined…a lot.

J changed clothes at least six times (and we were barely home).

I joyfully took advantage of the cooler temperatures with an early morning run.

Patience was not my strongest suit.

The kids and I made a trip to the zoo.

I was already thinking about tomorrow’s afternoon nap.

I visited my boyfriend. Can you believe it? He is still full of smiles even though he is in the hospital. And if you haven’t heard, E IV may not need open heart surgery after all.

I am praising the Lord for protecting this precious guy!

We were very indecisive when it came to food choices for our evening meal, so we just got done eating (too much).

I am thankful for ordinary and simple.

I booked a plane ticket.

Steve and I are celebrating nine years of marriage. I love you, Steve!

I am feeling so blessed.

My Boyfriend Needs Prayers

What?  You didn't know I had a boyfriend?

It's no secret.  My husband even knows.

We've been an item for nearly seven months.

I fell head over heels in love when he was just a little guy.

And now E IV is sooooo big!

But not quite big enough.

You see, a tiny hole in his heart is causing a few problems,

so he's heading to the hospital tomorrow for one last procedure before proceeding with an open heart surgery on Tuesday.

I know, buddy.
Makes me want to cry too, but I know that you will always be safe in God's hands.
Now that's something to smile about.

E IV, I've been praying like crazy for you.  Sometimes I don't understand God's plan, but I still trust that it's a perfect one.  Perfect...just like you.

Oh, and make sure to remind your daddy to pack your hair products.  You can still rock the 'hawk in a hospital bed.

I love you, handsome!

Please join me in praying for a successful surgery so E IV can get back to growing and gaining.

You can follow along on his journey here.

A Big Shout Out

to all of our breastfeeding mommy friends out there for setting such a lovely example for my sweet E.

Thanks!

Not Too Shabby

As far as a working mom's schedule goes, I can't complain about my two day work weeks.  Apparently, J likes the setup as well...

J to my mom:  I wish my dad was a nurse.  Then he could work at xxxx and only have to work on Mondays and Tuesdays, too.

An Important Life Lesson

The book

is always better than the movie.
