This morning J was showing off his impressive ninja kicks. It was all fun and games, but I had to interject a few words of caution when his foot came within inches of his sister's face.
Me: Geez, J! Be careful! You almost nailed E.
E: Ya, J, you almost nailed me to the cross!

Clothes
E often wears out a pair of pants before she outgrows them.
The reason isn't because she doesn't grow, but her pants can just simply be deemed capris or bermudas as the seasons pass us by.
Too bad that doesn't work so well for boys.

Your Guess Is As Good As Mine
Me: What was your story about in MOPS today?
E: Ummm, it was about some Jews living with some other Jews in a kingdom.

Easter Greetings
Hallelujah!
He is risen!
I know, I'm a little slow, but these weeks have been flying by and blogging isn't near the top of the priority list right now.
So, without further ado, our Easter fun...
We spent a few (late) nights with family back in our hometown.
Good Friday...
** A visit with Great Grandma
** Grandma B. bravely took four of her grandchildren to the church's living stations (a.k.a. "the Jesus play").
** A glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt in the park. Thanks Aunt J. for the awesome idea!
** Unorganized parents decided to start the Easter egg decorating party somewhere around 10:00 pm. Who needs sleep anyway?
Saturday...
** Cousins reunite again in the morning.
** Uncle S. and Steve put their plan into action.
** The kids are instructed to put on their shoes and coats so we can go see our nephew and niece's Easter gift from us.
** We head out to the garage to find the special treat. Steve wanted to out-do the Easter surprise from last year.
But what could it be?
Nothing says Easter like the Risen King and...
a lamb.
This lil' guy was the center of attention...
E loved him, but cautious J steered clear of this tiny creature.
My niece and nephew (pictured with Uncle S) were thrilled,
their dad, J, (who I never did get a picture of)...not so much.
It didn't take too long for the truth to come out. Unlike the duck and chick from last year, we just borrowed the lamb for a few hours, so no one actually got to keep him.
I think he was sad to hear the news...
I know my nephew was. He wanted Wrigley the lamb to live in his basement.
Following all that excitement, we went on with our day...
** A community Easter egg hunt. Baby S (she's not a baby at all anymore, but that's what we keep calling our youngest cousin) was able to join us.
** A visit to Grandma and Grandpa S's house.
** Steve & I went to a 40th birthday party that night while J and E hung out with Grandma and Grandpa B's. They made resurrection cookies and read the Easter story from the Bible.
Easter...
** Jesus is risen!
** The Easter bunny left some treats. E's favorite was the Easy Mac.
** We read the story from the Bible.
** We get to spend the day celebrating with family at Great Grandma and Grandpa B's house.
** After the long weekend, we finally return home to find that the Easter bunny found our house.
**Exhausted and thankful, we call it a night.
** Happy Easter!

Equal
J loves pizza. If he had it his way, he'd have pizza for every meal. When he does get his wish and has cheap, frozen pizza for a meal, he knows that I always cut it into eight pieces. As soon as the pizza makes it out of the oven (and sometimes even before it goes in), J assumes the role of pizza keeper.
As pizza keeper, he makes sure every triangular slice is accounted for and is visibly irritated if he has to share more than a piece or two. Luckily for him, E is more of a chicken noodle soup kind of girl, so she rarely puts up a pizza fight. I, however, sometimes mess with him just to see his reaction...
Me: What do you want for supper tonight?
J: Frozen pizza!
E: Chicken noodle soup!
Me: E, you don't want any pizza?
E: No, I'll have mac 'n cheese.
Me: You have 'til we get home to make up your mind. J and I will share the pizza then.
J: (Disappointed sigh.)
Me: I'll have six slices and J can have two.
J: What?!?
Me: Ok, I'll have seven and you can have one.
J: That's not okay.
Me: Alright, how many pieces would we each get to make it equal?
J: Just make two pizzas, then we'll each have eight.
Not the answer I expected, but definitely a smart one.

For Real
E was so enthusiastic and curious about Jesus' death and resurrection this Easter season. It seemed like every conversation last week revolved around our Savior, and she said many prayers asking Jesus to live in her heart. Beautiful!
These are some pretty big concepts for a little one (or big one) to fully grasp, but I truly feel that she has a good basic understanding of Jesus...as far as a concrete thinker is concerned...
E: Jesus rose from the dead, so he's alive?
Me: Yep! Jesus is alive. He lives in my heart, and J's heart, and Daddy's heart, and your heart, and anyone else who asks him to live in them. He is in our house. He is everywhere!
E: Ya, but what if the for real Jesus came to our house?
Me: Like Jesus as a real person?
E: Ya.
Me: Well, then we can ask him face-to-face to help us live like Him.
E: Would he help you with the laundry?
Me: I sure hope so.

Summer Plans
Having had no school today, J had a little taste of summer vacation and spent some time at the home of the ever so lovely H.. He could not have been more delighted to be there, and it certainly got him thinking ahead about summer break. Our conversation on the way home...
J: I want to have summer school at our house.
Me: Oh, yeah?
J: Yeah, I was thinking Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning.
Me: Okay. What do you want to learn?
J: Well, I want to start with World War I and then do World War II. After that we can learn about American Indians. I'm also interested in learning more about the African American culture, too. And then animals and a few projects.
I guess we're in for a busy summer. With only about seven weeks of J's kindergarten year remaining, I better start planning.
